transfer of video to dvd w/o pc

Is there a device that will transfer video to a dvd from a samsung camcorder without a computer? I thought my camera was a sony....its actually samsung
Sony has a stand alone DvD burning unit designed to work with different media to make DvDs.

is it true that a 6MP DSLR will have the same quality as 12 MP P&S

In several ways the 12mp compact could still be less quality than a 6mp Digital-SLR.
Due to the physical size of the sensor and the lens the compact has a tendency to have chromatic aberrations and purple fringes.
These aberrations look like red, blue, purple and sometimes green edges outlining some objects in a photo.
These are more noticeable when the photo is enlarged or zoomed in on using a photo editing program.
Also images above 200iso on a compact camera compared to a Digital-SLR are grainier(noisier).

Digital Camera Recommendation

I am a Realtor needing to replace a digital.Camera must work with Windows 7. I would like a slim, compact camera with wide angle and zoom and anti shake feature would be nice.
An Advanced compact would be best to give a wider angle lens. Take a look at the Nikon Coolpix L100.
Windows 7 compatibility should be no problem.

5000 or 5000Dx which is difference

what are the differences between the Nikon 5000 and the 5000DX
Not sure what product you are asking about.
There is a Nikon D5000 that is a Digital-SLR. There is a Nikon Coolpix 5000 that is a 5 megapixel compact camera. There is a Nikon 5000DX module for promaster flash units.

how is the nikon D5000 better than the nikon P90?

The D5000 is an actual Digital-SLR and even tho the P90 looks like a Digital-SLR it is an advanced compact camera. The sensor is smaller on the P90 and you cannot change the lens on the P90.
They both can do video but the P90 can only do video at 640x480 which is much less then the D5000 at 720p HD.
For a general carry camera the P90 would be good. More advanced photography it would be quickly out grown.

First time SLR purchase

I'm a mom in the gymn trying to capture action shots. I have a Kodak easyshare Z710 with with 10x optipcal zoom that isn't doing the job (or I don't have it set correctly?). I enjoy photography and would like to get into it more. Is there a good (not to complicated) SLR that you could recommend?
No matter what Digital-SLR you get they all have a full auto setting making them a Point-and-Shoot camera until you get the hang of full manual or semi full modes.
Action shots in any sports are easier to get when the camera has a fast burst mode (sequential shooting).
Entry level cameras are usually at 3-4fps (frames per second) while semi-pro and pro are 6-8fps and higher.
Another factor that you may want to consider is physical size. I shoot with a Sony a700. It is a pretty big camera and my wife doesn't care for the size. She uses my much smaller a200.
The Canon XSi is physically smaller than a 50D.
Try several cameras at the demo area of your nearest BestBuy and look for a camera that feels good in your hands.

looking for a sony camcorder?

I was in a local store and they had a sony camcorder with 8GB internal memory in it . I was looking for it online and can't find it. Can you HELP?
There was a Sony HDR-UX20 available at one time.
There was also a DCR-SX41 and a SX41.
Try searching for one of these.

why is "memory full" showing after only 3 pictures taken? camera has 18 MB internal memory.

Depending on the megapixel count of your camera, the resolution setting and the type of file the image is being saved as, 18 megs can be eaten up very quickly.
A 10mp image at full resolution and using jpg compression could be about 2-4 megs big.
Much higher is saved as a RAW file.
Internal memory is really just a safety buffer if the main memory is full.

megapixels

i have read that a picture taken with a DSLR 6 MP will be double the Quality than that of a 6MP pic taken with a p&s. is that true? and if so why?
The physical size of the sensor makes a big difference. The sensor in a compact camera is roughly the size of a eraser on a pencil..the one on a Digital-SLR is slightly bigger than a nickel.
The larger sensor gathers more light...more light means a sharper image, more color clarity.

What is the value of the D300s 12.3 mp over the d90 12.9MP Nikon slr?

What is the value of the D300s 12.3 MP over the D90 12.9 MP Nikon?
The D300 is more of a semi-pro camera verses the D90 as a more advanced amateur camera.
The D90 has HD video recording and a burst still mode at up to 4fps.
The D300 has no video mode and a fast burst mode of up to 8fps...great for sports and action shots.
There are several other features on the D300 that are helpful for certain kinds of shooting.
