Can you get new cords that put your pictures on to the computer?

You have a couple of options. You can get a replacement USB cable available at you nearest BestBuy or you can get a Dynex Multi Card Reader..also available at you nearest BestBuy.

Hard Drive Camcorders
Hard Drive Camcorders

If we buy a hard-drive type camcorder, after downloading to our PC, can we then burn it onto a DVD installed in our PC?

Yes generally you can. You can either archive the footage to a DvD or if you have video editing software you can make a Video DvD that can be played on a DvD player. This will take longer as the footage usually has to be converted for playing on DvD.

Need help choosing a camcorder

I'm looking for a camcorder to primarily record home videos of family, daughter cheerleading (indoors and outdoors), use to think i wanted the dvd but after reviewing looks like the flash memory is maybe better do to longer record time but my computer is older and slow and hate to mess with the fuss of uploading to computer then burning to dvd, which i don't even know it it has that. If you upload from memory card to dvd what length on a dvd are you able to fill as compared to recording with a dvd camcorder and taking it out and putting it straight into the dvd player. Im currently looking at the sony handy cam dvd-hybrid and the canon-digital camcorder.
The DvD based camcorders are nice in being able to play on a regular player but they do have a short record length..half hour on mini DvD.
Flash based would give you longer record times. You could plug directly from camera to a stand alone DvD Recorder and copy your footage.
You could also look at a Sony Express DvD recorder. They have multi card readers built in so you don't need to connect to a computer. Or you can plug the camera directly into the burner.

Is there a slr digital camera that runs on regular batteries?

I am going on an African safari where electricity is iffy to use a rechargeable battery operated camera.
Some companies make a battery that holds AA batteries inside to go into certain cameras.
Try searching for AA to rechargeable converter battery.

70-300mm lens for nikon d60 is it good?

I am wanting to zoom and try to get a good show of wildlife and the moon at night, is this a good lens?
I have taken many Moon pictures with a 70-300mm lens and they have turned out fine.
Good lens for wild life and sports too.

what lens is needed for nighttime clear crisp pictures

I have the CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTI camera with both the 75-300MM and the 18-55mm lenses. I also have a tripod. I am wanting to take CLEAR CRISP night time pictures of stuff that is in the distance and not have the blurry lights. What lens is recommended, or what setting on the camera should I use?
Any other helpful tips?
Night time shooting is going to require a higher ISO and this is going to make the pictures grainy (noisy). That happens with all cameras.
Zooming in with a telephoto lens is likely to make lights look like spiked stars.
Higher ISO will help with motion blur and a noise reduction plug-in like Noise Ninja will help smooth out the photo.

What type camera and lens do I need to take stop action pictures of individual lacrosse and soccer players at night games?

Need to shoot from bleachers and the field is lit, Please be specific on lens specs, what aperture spec is needed, for example? And then what settings would I use?
OK...Light is the big factor here. You need more. Even though the field is light you will need a fast lens.
It is called a fast lens because it allows the shutter to be set at higher speed to "Freeze" the action.
You will also need the lens to be of a high zoom...around the 300mm area or higher.
Since no specific camera was mentioned I can't recommend a specific lens.
Settings:
ISO=400
Lens: 300mm
Aperture: f/2.8 better if f/1.2 to f/1.8
Shutter: Adjusted high around 1/1000 until metering is centered then down one half step.
Burst mode on the camera set to high.
Tripod attached to the Lens.
Auto Focus set to continuous on camera and follow your subject.

The lens below is just an example of the type of lens. It is for Canon cameras.

what type of camera to buy

i am seriousley lookin at getting a SLR camera if this is my first camera what would be the best choice for first time buyers...i really like the d5000 but what is the diffrence in that and the d3000
The D3000 and the D5000 are really good cameras and you can't go wrong with either.
The is only a few differences between the D3000 and D5000..but they are cool differences.
The D5000 can shoot HD video (720p ant 24fps) and has 12.3mp verses 10.2mp on the D3000.
The D5000 can shoot at 4FPS (frames per second) which is helpful for action and sports photography.
The D5000 would make a good first camera.

whats the difference between SD & SDHC for micro memory cards

SD memory and SDHC both are Secure Disk. SDHC is Secure Disk High Capacity.
SD is up to 2gb.
SDHC is 4GB and higher and is a faster access read/write speed.
SDHC devices can use both SD and SDHC.
SD only devices can only use SD memory.
