who has a beep?

what cameras have an audible beep when picture is sucessfully taken?
All should make a beep when ready to capture and a click or shutter noise when the photo is taken. Some cameras allow this to be disabled in the menu settings and some allow this sound to be changed or the volume raised and lowered.

Explain the differences between DVD, MiniDV, Hard Drive, High Definition, & Flash Memory

All of these are recording media except for High Definition which is a video resolution definition.
DvD is usually a miniDvD used in camcorders with a storage size around 2.8gig and a average record length of 20+minuets at best quality to 60 at least quality. Once the disk is finalized it cannot be recorded to again and can be played in a stand alone DvD player. Some camcorders can use miniDvD RW (rewritable).

MiniDV is a tape format for digital video. Record length is around 60 minuets in SP (standard play) to 90 minuets in LP(long play).

Hard Drive camcorders have a built in drive with storage sizes ranging anywhere from 30gig up to 160gig or higher. These camcorders have the longest record lengths.

Flash based camcorders use removable memory media with sizes ranging from 2gig up to 32gig. Record lengths vary widely. Flash Memory can be found in addition with all of the above formats but may be for photo capture only. Some camcorders are Hybrds that allow a choice of DvD or Flash..or..Hard Drive and Flash...

All these formats have their pluses and drawbacks. Some are very easy to edit with such as miniDV to needing conversion like Hard Drive and Flash.

what is a good telephoto lens to buy for kids that are young and for school and sports events such as soccer

A 70-300mm lens is generally useful for sports shooting.
Shoot with a higher ISO, around 400, and a fast shutter speed to freeze the action shots.

what is the difference between cyber shot and power shot?

Powershot is a model from Canon and Cybershot is made by Sony.
Both manufactures will have features that are similar and some that are brand specific such as Steady Shot from Sony.

I recently broke my filter and the loose glass scratched my lens. Is it possible to buff the small scratches out? Thank you....

Unfortunately a scratch on a lens is a damage that can't be buffed out. Even if it could it would cause a focus distortion the would be more of a problem than the scratch.
If the scratches are very visible in the photos try using the patch tool or spot healing tool in Photoshop from Adobe to clean up the photos.
Photoshop Elements has similar tools.

Looking for Transcend memory card reader...

Hi,
I am trying to search this product in Best Buy, but can't find:

Transcend P5 9-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader TS-RDP5K (Black) by Transcend

Is there any equally good alternative product which I can go and buy in the store?

Is it possible that I might get things in the store that aren't even listed on the website?

Most Firewire based camcorders are generally more compatible with iMovie than the Memory or Hard Drive based camcorders.

why is my sdhc camera memory card not compatible whith my hp pavilion

Unless the computer is able to use a SDHC card it can only use standard SD memory even though it can physically fit into the built in reader.
If you use a newer multi card reader it should see the SDHC format memory.

Will my Minolta Maxxum 7000 lens fit any brand of Digital SLR?

I have a Minolta Maxxum 7000 camera with a Minolta AF 50 lens, a minolta AF 80-200 zoom lens and a minota AF 35-105 zoom lens. I want to upgrade to a Digital SLR. What brands will the current lens work with if any?
Your in luck. Sony Alpha cameras have incorporated the Minolta technology into their Digital-SLR cameras. The Maxxum 7000 lenses work nicely on the Alpha series cameras.
There is a conversion factor for using 35mm SLR lenses on a Digital-SLR body. The Alphas are a 1.6 conversion. That causes a 80-200mm film lens to act like a 128-320mm lens.

I'd like bout 4GB-8GB.
The D3000 uses SD or SDHC memory cards. It is not brand specific.
