Low lighting lense

What would be the best lense to purchase when using my Nikon D3000 in low lighting without a flash?
Low light shooting requires what is referred to as a fast lens. Fast in that it allows higher shutter speeds because it lets in more light due to larger aperture opening.
The smaller the aperture number the bigger the opening.
f/1.8 is bigger than f/2.8 and these are a lot bigger than f/22.
For low light shooting look for lenses in the f/1.8 or f/2.8 range and shoot at ISO 400 to 800 with noise reduction on.

Would this Lens work good with sports like Football and Basketball?

Not really. This lens is more suited for Landscape and close up portrait. A 200mm or 300mm lens would be better.

can you take the lens off and still take pictures?

If you were to take the lens off the camera, are you still able to take pictures with the body of the camera?
Not many cameras will do forced shutter release or no lens release. Seems the shutter on this camera will only open with lens off in cleaning mode.

what does Hz do?

That can be a very complex question and answer. Search online for " Define Hz".
A simpler answer is:
Hz stands for Hertz. This in reference to TVs is at what refresh rate the screen cycles per second.
The slower the Hz...the slower the screen refreshes and images will appear to flicker or strobe.
The higher the Hz the smoother the motion on screen.

has the Kodak Z 981 got a glass lense or a plastic lense

It has a attached 26–676 mm (35 mm equiv.) f/2.8–5.0 SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH VARIOGON optical zoom lens. This should be a glass lens.

do all dsl lenses have electronics?

If it is a Auto Focus lens it will contain electronics. Some Digital-SLR cameras can use full manual lenses with special adapters.

Which lens should I get?

I want to buy a canon T2i but I just want one lens to do everything. I want something like a 18-250mm or 28-250mm. Do they have it for the T2i?
Canon make a 18-200mm lens. There are other manufacturers that make lenses for Canon bodies that are in the 18-250mm range.

Products from my answer
Canon - EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens - Black
4.7 out of 5(120)
