I have a old camera (Nikon N60). Can I use the lens of that camera in any new SLR Camera?

Nikon lenses are a little ticker to use with their modern digital replacements than other manufactures.
It will depend on the actual model number of the lens as to which Nikon Digital body will accept it.

I am looking at Digital cameras, what does SLR and DSLR mean

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. This is a type of film camera that used 35mm film (most commonly).
Digital-SLR (DSLR) is still the same type of camera however a digital sensor has taken the place of the film.

I have been looking to buy a Nikon D300 or Canon rebel which would be the most user friendly?

I am a beginner I have a canon G11. I am not satisfied with the quality of the pictures.. I have seen pictures taken with the Nikon and they are excellent, but I didn't know if it would be too complicated for me to learn to use. Someone said the Canon EOS rebel was good the one with 18 megapixels.
Looking forward to your advice..
Both cameras will be pretty much the same in general use. Operations of the settings is much the same even on different manufactures. The best thing is... go to your nearest BestBuy and try both cameras in your hands to see with one makes it easier for you to under stand the layout. Also which one feels good in your hands.

Currently the most inexpensive Digital-SLR is the Olympus E-600. Check with your nearest BestBuy for any in store special they might have.

What is the difference between VR and NON VR

VR stands for Vibration Reduction. This would help with low ISO settings on long exposures, also with long zoom lenses. Kinda like a sready shot.
Non-VR would be no Vibration Reduction.

Which one is better, a Nikon d3100 or Nikon d5000?

I am a first time buyer of DSLR camera and I want to make sure I am getting most out of my purchase. Im looking into buying a Nikon but I can't decide wether to get a d3100 or d5000. I want ease of use and the ability to edit photos thru the cam without having to connect to a pc. I also want a live view of what I'll be shooting at. I don't know if I should go with the d3100 since it's newer or get the d5000 since it's been here long enough and is pretty much tested already.
There are some features such as bracketing and the IR remote control that are missing on the D3100. Bracketing is mostly a helpful feature if you are doing HDR photos (High Dynamic Range).
The D3100 is using a newer sensor design and has full HD record with continuous focus.
The D3100 might be the better bet. Progression is a ever changing state these days when it comes to digital cameras. The D3100 is the next step.

which panasonic 65 inch is the newer one...the s1 or the s2?..i compared and there isn't much of a difference ....?

The S2 should be the newer model.
Some of the differences is in black level, color clarity and reduced power consumption.
