With so many camcorders on the market the list could be long, but not all camcorders have this built in. To see if a camcorder you are interested in has BW ability look in the menu under Creative or Special Effects. There you will find either Sepia (old film looking effect) or Mono Chrome (no color=black and white).
Most video producers shoot in color and change to Black and White inside the editing program. This way you still preserve the original color video, recording in BW on the camera will be permanent.

What camera should I buy to take proffesional portraits indoors and outdoors
If portrait is all that you want to do for now you can start off with a good entry level D-SLR. Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony all have excellent starter D-SLR cameras under $650.
Later if you wish to do Sports or Event photography you could upgrade to a pro level camera.
A good portrait lens to look for is in the 35-105mm area. The faster lens you can get the better, a f/1.2 to f/1.7 will give you a nice soft depth of field. (see example photos)
Also look into a speed/zoom flash for fill lighting.

memory card for a samsung
i am looking for a memory card for a samsung mini dv camcorder
That should be a standard SD card (2gig and under). Chances are it is not a SDHC since it is a miniDV camcorder.

Sometimes you can. There is several File Recovery programs available. I use R-Studio and have had great success with it.
You could also take the memory to you nearest BestBuy and have the Geek Squad see what they can recover.

What camera would be good at capturing lightning in places with inadequate lighting?
I need it to catch Phoenix's Monsoons. Something cheap would be good too... no $700 camcorders...
Pretty much any camcorder that will allow you to turn off auto focus and auto exposure would do well with lightning shots.
When a camcorder is in auto focus and shooting in the dark it has no focus point and will be constantly looking for one. This will cause a blurry video when the lightning flashes. Also the auto exposure needs to be off otherwise the video will be over exposed when the lightning flashes.
It is best to stop by your nearest BestBuy and look at the camcorders that are on display for ones that have some of these manual features as they are not usually listed in the specifications. An associate will be happy to assist you.

Communication Speech for online learning?
I need to record Speeches and download it to my computer as a file, Youtube, Itunes etc and send to my Instructor. What camcorder is best, what accessories do I need? I am running Windows Vista if that plays a factor.

Unfortunately camcorders that work well with Youtube are not designed to be high end production cameras. It would be good to have a external mic input and a wireless mic to get closer to the person giving the speech. This would give you the clearest audio without sounding hollow. You can get higher end camcorders but you will need to do some post processing to upload to Youtube, not straight from camera to Youtube.

Why isnt elargement capability listed?
I am in need of a Digital camera, prefereably a Nikon, with 300dpi image resolution for enlargements of 20x30. Is there one? I purchased a 10mp Nikon that has resolution only capable of doing up to 8x12.
DPI (Dots Per Inch) is usually adjusted in your image editing software. File storage in a digital camera is very limited and image size is handled by PPI ( Pixels Per Inch). If a camera was to produce a image at 300PPI at 8 bit color the image would be over 25 megs in size. Some cameras are at 180 to 300 PPI but sacrifice bit depth at 4 bit to keep the file size down. So you loose color information. Shooting in RAW will increase the PPI in most cameras keeping the bit rate high.

what camera is best for taking close up shots of small items to sell on e-bay?
All most all cameras come with a Macro setting. This is the setting used for close up photography so finding a camera that has other feature that you like should be easy.
Also look into getting a portable light tent. Light is very important when doing Macro work. Check with your nearest BestBuy to see if they have one.

I want a Canon Elph but there are lots of different ones, which is the best??
