witha digital camera, is it better to get a camera that uses a rechargable battery or uses AA batteries

In general it is better to get a camera with a rechargeable battery that was designed for that particular model. The benefits being more photos during charges and saved cost on buying batteries.
The non-rechargeable batteries are convenient when there is no opportunity to charge a battery, most AAA and AA batteries are available at local stores.
Rechargeable AAA and AA batteries can sometimes not last as long as non-rechargeable and wont take as many pictures.

Can I pull a still image from a video image?

I know that there are alot of camcorders out there that allow you to take digital stills. Does that also mean that I can take still images from a video image and print it? Are there any camcorders that would be recommended?
I am not aware of any camcorders that can directly export a still image from a video file. This is usually done with either video editing software of some specialty software for still frame capture.

What camera is best for zooming when taking a video?

what is the best digital camera for zooming when shooting a video. what should i look for?
Always look for the highest Optical zoom. 14x-30x is the average with some camcorders from Sony going as high as 60x optical zoom.

Slim Cameras

Looking for a slim camera(cell phone size) with through the lense viewing...the more features the better...apture...shutter prioriey...manual...etc
The only cameras that give you "Through the lens" viewing are D-SLR cameras. The few cameras that give you a viewfinder other than the LCD screen are usually off to the side, not giving you a true representation of the framed picture.
Compact cameras also limit the amount of manual control you have. Features like shutter, aperture, iso would be found on some advanced compacts. Slim compact cameras would most likely not have manual control over these settings.

Best camera for close up details

What do I need to look for in a camera for taking close up details of items I have for sale online?
Almost all compact cameras have a "Macro" mode to allow closeup shots for detail. A compact camera will give you some usable shots.
A D-SLR Camera with a Macro lens will give you better control, better color and sharper detail. The D-SLR will also have less noise (graininess) in the image because of the larger sensor in D-SLR Cameras.
One of the key factors in Macro Photography is lighting. Using the flash on the camera will have a tendency to over expose the photo.

What hard drive cameras have time date stamp

Our Private Investigations company is looking to purchase approximately 10-15 hard drive cameras; however, we have tested several models and NONE seem to have time date stamps on the final video. We must be able to render/copy/formt video with visible time date stampts
The Time and Date are usually encoded in the video and visible ONLY when the DATE button is pushed on the REMOTE. Having done leagle video work in the past for video depositions we found the only way to keep the Date/Time stamp up was to make a duplication of the video using the AV Lines out while the Date/TIme was on.
There is also a program available on line called DVdate. After a video is captured on computer this program allows you to make a duplicate with the Date/Time Stamp turned on.

For Digital Cameras, what is the difference between optical zoom and digital zoom?

Optical Zoom is like using a Magnifying Glass. As you move the glass closer or farther back the image either get larger or smaller. Using several glasses together gives you more zoom effect.
Digital Zoom is as if you took the image itself and enlarged it. After a certain amount of enlarging it becomes pixelated. The image get Jagged.
It is always better to have more optical zoom than digital zoom.
