where can I obtain a SANYO XACTI VPC HD 2000 digital camcorder in the USA?

BestBuy does not carry this model and this time. There are several places online that do. Do a Google search to find one that currently available.

will my AF-S NIKKOR 18 to 200mm VR and AF NIKKOR 70 to 300 zoom lenses used on my NIKON D50 be fully compatable with a new NIKON D5000?

This is what I could find:
The original 18-200mm VR, which was marked in gold on the lens ...AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 G ED. It uses Nikon's second-generation VR system later called VR-II. This lens is sometimes confused with the NEW Nikon 18-200 VR II lens which is the same as the original but features a zoom lock at 18mm., and is marked AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6GII ED.
The AF-S feature is not supported by certain camera models.
The G-type lenses are fully compatible with the D100 and newer mode cameras.
The VR-feature will only work with Nikon's F5, F6, F100, N80, N75, N65, D100, D1 & D2-series or newer model cameras.

Try taking your lenses to your nearest BestBuy and give them a try on the Demo Model and see how they do.

what do i need to look for to know that a digital camera will playback with sound?

When it comes to Compact cameras, look for "Movie Mode". Cameras with this mode will usually have audio with video.
Some D-SLR cameras are able to shoot HD video, such as the Nikon D90 that also recorder sound.

Best video and picture camera.

What is a good camera that i can use for video and still take pictures. I am looking for a camcoreder that i can record for hours, yet still have the capabilities of taking quality pictures. Can anyone help me?
Most higher end camcorders will allow good quality photos, however you will need to be in "Photo" mode to utilize the higher megapixels to get the better quality.
Hard drive based camcorder with a SD or SDHC card will give you hours of record time with the photos being stored on the card for easier transfer.
Take a look at this HD Panasonic that take photos:

Which models allow you to capture a still image WHILE taking video but store it separate (not part of the video)?

I know that most camcorders allow you to take a still photo. I also know that the quality is usually less than what you get from a still camera. I am looking for a video camera that allows me to hit the photo button while i am videoing and not interrupt the videoing and store the picture separate from the video. Would like 3MP or better (i know this usually means HD quality camera). Is there a way to determine if a video camera has this capability (aside from playing with them in store)? I don't want to switch between video mode and camera mode - then i'd rather just use my still camera in one hand and video camera in the other. Any advice? Any particular models/brands?
There might be certain models of Flash based camcorders that capture a still image while in video mode. I'll check into if there are... and list some of the ones that do.

witha digital camera, is it better to get a camera that uses a rechargable battery or uses AA batteries

In general it is better to get a camera with a rechargeable battery that was designed for that particular model. The benefits being more photos during charges and saved cost on buying batteries.
The non-rechargeable batteries are convenient when there is no opportunity to charge a battery, most AAA and AA batteries are available at local stores.
Rechargeable AAA and AA batteries can sometimes not last as long as non-rechargeable and wont take as many pictures.

Can I pull a still image from a video image?

I know that there are alot of camcorders out there that allow you to take digital stills. Does that also mean that I can take still images from a video image and print it? Are there any camcorders that would be recommended?
I am not aware of any camcorders that can directly export a still image from a video file. This is usually done with either video editing software of some specialty software for still frame capture.

What camera is best for zooming when taking a video?

what is the best digital camera for zooming when shooting a video. what should i look for?
Always look for the highest Optical zoom. 14x-30x is the average with some camcorders from Sony going as high as 60x optical zoom.

Slim Cameras

Looking for a slim camera(cell phone size) with through the lense viewing...the more features the better...apture...shutter prioriey...manual...etc
The only cameras that give you "Through the lens" viewing are D-SLR cameras. The few cameras that give you a viewfinder other than the LCD screen are usually off to the side, not giving you a true representation of the framed picture.
Compact cameras also limit the amount of manual control you have. Features like shutter, aperture, iso would be found on some advanced compacts. Slim compact cameras would most likely not have manual control over these settings.
