Perfect mount for heavy or large TV's

The Sanus Elite Super Slim mount was exactly what I was looking for when it came time to mount my new 75” TV. The first thing I noticed about it was how heavy it was. While that scared me a little since I would be doing the majority of the installation alone, I knew a heavier build usually means a better product. That’s important when you think about the relatively large investment you have in the TV itself and the damage it could cause should the mount fail. Once I got everything unboxed, it became obvious Sanus had done their homework an made the mount in such a way that none of the parts were super heavy or unwieldy. Make sure you don’t throw away the template that you see when you first open the box. It’s very important to a good and easy installation. I would also recommend watching the videos on their website just to be sure you know exactly what to expect. I’ve mounted serval TV’s over the years, but the short videos still gave me a lot more confidence. After getting the appropriate height for the room (use their tools as a guide), it took about a half hour or so to get everything done. A friend helped me lift the TV into place and I was done. It was really quite a pain free experience. I like the fact that the TV sits extremely close to the wall when pushed all the way in (less than 2 inches) so you don’t have to see all the wires in the back. Of course, the clever cable management systems helps hide them too so it’s not as big of a deal. Making adjustments to the viewing angle is smooth and easy. The mount allows an almost infinite measure of adjustments with very little effort, even considering that the TV I have on it weighs over 75 pounds. Everything is fluid and I haven’t found this mount to let the TV get off level, no matter how many times I move it. That a huge plus for me because other mounts I have will sag to one side if you aren’t extremely careful when you move the TV around. This is a very well- engineered and sturdy built mount that I can’t say enough good things about. I would highly recommend it for a heavy TV or one that you need to adjust on a fairly regular basis.

My new favorite cleaning toy that's far from a toy

I was a little hesitant to try it based on prior experiences with these kind of vacuum cleaners, this Shark Matrix robot has quickly become my favorite cleaning tool. Our schedule is pretty hectic and finding or making the time to vacuum can be a hassle. We have lots of foot traffic in and out most days so if you don’t make that time, the floors can start looking really bad, really quickly. Enter the Shark and exit the stress. After receiving the unit and unboxing, it took about five minutes to put it all together. The base has a handy cord wrap for one less potential obstacle which was a nice touch. Before you can start cleaning, you’ll have to download the app and set up the WiFi. It had a little trouble finding and connecting to my network for some reason, but on the third or fourth try, I was all set. The next step is mapping your space. The unit has to be charged to at least 50 percent before you can start that process and it does take a while to charge. Just keep that in mind if you are wanting to start cleaning right away. Once the battery is charged enough, you send the vacuum on an exploration run where it wanders around and uses Lidar to “see” what your home looks like. After a half hour or so (depending on the size of your space), a map will appear in the app. From there, you can define and label different spaces, and even set up “no-go” zones (which is great because you don’t have to have any special boxes, contraptions, or tape to set up artificial barriers for it not to cross). If you don’t like the map, you can send it on another run. I was quite satisfied with mine. Then you’ll get a demonstration of the spot-cleaning mode in which the unit will clean a specific location using a grid pattern which is great for really high traffic areas when maybe the rest of the home doesn’t need to be hit. Anyway, once it’s all set up and ready, you can use voice controls, the app, or just push the clean button to send it on its merry way while you go about doing anything else you’d like to. (There is also an option to set a schedule for it to run, but with an older dog in the house who sometimes has accidents, I haven’t tried that for fear it will try too hard to pick up something it shouldn’t!) Once it’s cleaning, it will wander around for about a half hour or so before returning to the dock to empty itself into the base and then go back where it stopped and pick up the cleaning cycle. While it is working, it’s amazingly quiet but the self-emptying portion is substantially louder. Not annoyingly so, but just something to note. The built-in bin on the base is plenty large to go through several cleaning cycles before it needs to be dumped. My house has a mix of hardwood, tile, and area rugs and this guy does well on all of them. There are also some transitions between rooms which it can maneuver over without any trouble. All in all, I have been super impressed with this vacuum cleaner and hope it lasts for many years to come.

Fantastic picture and feature packed TV

The Hisense UK6 Series is what a TV should be! It sports a beautiful picture and is loaded with features. The mini-LED technology is something I had never experienced before, and it truly does present a more realistic picture whether you are watching fast-moving sports or a 4K movie. The brightness is unparalleled and with Hisense adding over 1000 dimming zones, the contrast is amazing. Once I got the TV unboxed and mounted, I was presented with on-screen directions to scan a QR code for easy setup. Although Google Home had a slight hiccup in connecting to my wifi network, once I got past that, setup was a breeze. You will need to allot about a half hour or so for the process as downloading all of the apps and doing the ubiquitous system update does take some time. After all of that is done, the quantum dot technology and Dolby Vision IQ ensure you get the absolute best picture quality available. With most new TV’s, I go through and manually adjust all of the settings to tweak the picture to suit my preferences. Not so with this one. It looked nearly perfect using the factory settings. I can’t speak to the internal speakers as I use a soundbar, but the audio quality there is spot on as well. The upgraded voice remote is much netter than previous Hisense versions and it easily pairs to make sure you aren’t inadvertently controlling another device somewhere else in your home (which has been a problem for me in the past). The 75” version is a bit of a hefty beast so be sure your mount is up to the task and that you have a friend or family member to help lift it safely! I have been a Hisense fan since getting one a couple of years ago, but the UK6 is leaps and bounds ahead of any other TV in my home. The brightness, color saturation, smoothness, and overall build quality are simply amazing. Get one. You won’t regret it!

The V11 Extra Cordless Vacuum is yet another in a series of great vacuum cleaners from Dyson with all of the power and options you’d expect from a high-end cleaner. Once you open the box, you’re presented with a ton of accessories that look daunting at first. But in true Dyson fashion, the engineering makes it super simple to assemble and figure out which tools do what. After mounting the dock on the wall and running the power cord, it will take about 4 hours or so to charge then you can be off and running for up to 60 minutes of clean time. That time, or course, depends on which level of suction you’re using and assumes you are in Eco mode (there are two others which are more powerful, but which suck down a lot more juice from the battery). The suction and cleaning power are great for all floor types in my house, from tile to hardwood to area rugs to carpet, and the machine automatically adjusts as you move from one to the other. The dust bin is sufficiently large and simple to empty without getting your hands dirty. One feature that I particularly like is the reimagined and reengineered brush roll on the motorhead. My wife and daughter have long hair and they tend to lose a lot of it. With other vacuums, I tend to have to cut hair out of the roller bar every four or five times we vacuum. Not so with the V11. The hair doesn’t get balled up in the head but goes right up to the dust bin. That’s a major time and headache saver for me. The only downside I have for the V11 is that you have to hold the trigger down the entire time you are using it as there is on real on/off switch. I’m sure there was a reason Dyson chose to do it that way, but it can get annoying. Otherwise, it’s a great machine which I’d definitely recommend.

Great little fridge, but not 48-cans

This is a great little refrigerator if you need some extra space for your beverages. I had been looking for quite some time for something even more compact than your typical “dorm” fridge as the location I wanted it had pretty tight clearances. This guy fit absolutely perfectly. Once I got it unpacked, I was impressed by how good it looked in person. The stainless steel and glass just give it a little more class than a typical min fridge. The control panel has soft-touch buttons for controlling the temperature and LED light (which looks pretty cool at night). Once I got it in place and turned on, it only took a few hours to cool down to the proper temperature and it has held there quite well. I was a little concerned because I got this fridge to use on my covered patio, but the manual says it is not “garage ready” and you should only use it in conditioned spaces. I’m guessing that’s so the compressor doesn’t have such a hard time during very hot or cold times. However, after a couple of weeks of some fairly high temperatures, I haven’t noticed the fridge struggling to keep up or generating any extra or unusual noises or heat. Longevity might be compromised because of where I’ve chosen to place it, but I won’t be able to blame anyone but myself there.
Although advertised as a 48-can capacity, unless you are a packing genius there is no way you’re getting that many in this thing. I’d say 30 at best. This isn’t a drawback for me because I don’t really need to hold a huge number of cans because this is really an “overflow” fridge most of the time for me, but it does seem a little misleading marketing-wise. Anyway, if you’re wanting to put water bottles in, the clearance on the bottom shelf is super tight and you almost have to jam them in, while the top shelf is only useable if you lay them down. This is a compact fridge so space issues should be expected. Overall though, I have been really impressed with this beverage cooler. It looks good, cools well, and meets my needs perfectly.

The Marshall Stanmore III is what you’d expect from Marshall. Heavy, loud, and . . . a conversation starter. I never thought I would refer to a Bluetooth speaker that way, but the aesthetic is awesome and clearly evokes the Marshall heritage. The faux leather, the brass dials and switches, the cloth grill, and of course, the beautiful logo splashed across the front. (Don’t look at the back though. For some odd reason they put all of the required warnings there instead of on the bottom where they wouldn’t ruin the look.) Anyway, this thing is a beast as it weighs over nine pounds. Definitely not a portable speaker to say the least (besides the fact there is no battery…). Instead of a battery inside, there’s 80 watts of power driving a woofer and two tweeters. Like I said earlier, this thing will get loud. But it’s definitely not audiophile quality. There is plenty of thump and the highs are pretty decent, but the midrange can get a little sloppy. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds pretty good (that “Marshall sound” that they advertise) overall. The barebones app can be used to tweak some stuff like bass/treble, placement compensation, and basic playback controls. I didn’t find it helpful or really useful personally. Overall, if you’re looking for a non-portable speaker to use inside, or if you just love all things Marshall, I don’t think you can go wrong here.

The Oura ring and accompanying app are incredible for anyone who wants to really get a handle on their daily fitness and sleep habits. First, the ring itself is very nice looking, comfortable to wear, and seems very durable. Even after wearing for several days in a somewhat harsh work environment, it shows absolutely zero scratches. Hopefully, it will maintain its appearance for quite some time. After an initial charge and the obligatory firmware update, the ring paired quickly and easily to the app. Although there is obviously a lot of tech crammed into this ring, the app is where the Oura really shines. The amount of data is absolutely incredible. Aside from the standard step counts and calorie burn information, there is a ton of information to drill down into about your daily movements. And for sleep it breaks down everything from light to REM and even lets you look at the accompanying heartrate and blood oxygen level information. With the Sleep, Readiness, and Activity scores, the app gives you some hints on how to improve each one and you can see if small changes each day make a difference in each. I can’t say enough about the depth and breadth of information the Oura ring collects and tracks and how helpful it can be in improving your daily life. If you are looking for a high quality and nearly invisible tracker, the Oura ring is definitely for you!

Great heater, long assembly time

If you want great heat tonight, this patio heater is a great option. But you'd better buy it this morning, I have assembled several similar patio heaters over the years but this one definitely took the longest, First, make sure before you start that you have a bag of sand around to fill the base as there is no built-in weight (it holds about 20 pounds or so in my estimation). The instructions don't mention this until the very last page. If you wait until then it will be next to impossible to get anything into the base, so plan accordingly. Also, because this is a stainless steel heater, many of the parts have a protective plastic coating on them which is next to impossible to remove and only adds to the frustratingly long assembly time. I'm not a huge fan of the nylon security strap that hold the tank in but it works. Once you get it all together, it's not quite as sturdy as I'd like, but so far I haven't had any issues although I haven't moved it around a lot. Now, on to the good stuff! This heater is very good looking and I really like that the tank cover has an almost flat surface so if you are placing a drink on it you don't have to worry about it sliding off. I have two other heaters like this but the Insignia puts out far more heat to a larger radius. I have found myself turning this heater down substantially lower than the others to maintain an even temperature. The added bonus to that is that it uses less propane to get warm temperatures. I'd say the heat radius is well in excess of 15 feet. The electric igniter is a definite upgrade over the normal mechanical "clicker" type starters. A quick touch of the button and this thing fires right up. And quietly. No more annoying clicking trying to get a heater started. Aside from the painful assembly, this patio heater is fantastic. All of my guests who have seen it have raved about the look and heat output. I would definitely recommend it as long as you're willing to spend a couple of hours putting it together.

Good picture quality but not terribly bright

I got the Epson Home Cinema 2350 to replace an aging projector that I use almost daily. First off, this thing is really large compared to the other projectors I have and have had in the past. It definitely won't blend in anywhere you put it. Next, the Google Home "simple" setup is a complete joke and waste of time as it just doesn't want to work with an iOS device. Skipping that step and doing your network connection manually will save you lots of time and headache. Once you get online, there is the inevitable update but it doesn't take too long. Next, I tried to pair the projector to my soundbar and, while it did connect over Bluetooth, the sound was never correct. After much troubleshooting, I just gave up. That was disappointing because I was really hoping to be able to use the built-in streaming capabilities without having an external device. I went back to my Apple TV, connected it to the HDMI ARC port, and all was well. Now, that being said, I have not used the streaming capabilities and can't comment on how well it works.
Now, on to the picture part. The clarity is amazing. There has been no pixelation, blurriness, or lag even with high paced sports or FPS games. Watching a movie is almost like going to the cinema since this is a true 4K projector. The main issue I have is that, at 2800 lumens, the picture is not terribly bright. In a completely darkened room the brightness is acceptable. But if you have a light source (like a window) that is close enough to your screen to light it at all, the picture gets washed out. I am lucky enough to be able to rearrange my viewing space to minimize the light, if you have a fixed location or have overhead lights on regularly, you might consider looking fro a model with a higher brightness output.
I really wanted to love this projector as an "all-in-one" solution, the Bluetooth sound issues and the lowered brightness level are issues for me. It is certainly better than the unit it replaced, but overall I would say it is just slightly above adequate for my needs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Big sound in a small package

When I first opened the box for the Sonos Roam SL, I didn't think there was any way I was going to keep it. While I had looked at this particular speaker online several times, I was not prepared for really how small it is. But, because I have used other Sonos products for several years, I thought I would at least give it a shot and I am so glad I did!
The setup process is as simple as all of my other Sonos speakers. Just go into the app, press the plus, wait for the speaker to update, and you are basically done. This is just one of the ways Sonos really leads the pack when it comes to linkable sound products. The app just works and setup is essentially foolproof.
Once I had the Roam added to my account, I started putting it through its paces, while not really expecting much at all. But true to the Sonos name, the sound is significantly larger than the package. Clearly, this won't be a bass heavy sound, but overall it is well rounded with zero tinniness. No matter the volume level, there is absolutely no distortion and it doesn't sound like it is struggling in an way. I can't say much about the battery life as I keep it on the magnetic charging base (not included) when it's not in use to keep the battery topped up. There is no microphone on the SL but that hasn't been a problem for me.

Does this clean hard floor surfaces as well?
It will if you purchase the optional hard surface roller and nozzle. Using the carpet roller won't work as the brushes won't come into enough contact with hard surfaces to clean properly. The set comes with two bottles of multi-surface cleaner and is relatively inexpensive.

Only in the dark from my experience. Any ambient light overpowers the low light output of the projector unfortunately.

How does this system work without the monthly monitoring. Can I get alerts on my phone without the monitoring?
Essentially, without the monitoring you have little more than a noise-maker. You cannot get alerts on your phone or otherwise "self-monitor" the system. If no one is home when an alarm sounds, you will have no way of knowing it happened. If a bad guy comes in, your only hope is that the noise will scare him away.

I'm restating my former question in a more direct manner, concerning damage to BASEBOARDS and WOOD Furniture legs not wood floors, by the side bristles on the Roomba. Did the side bristles cause damage to these areas?
I've got the 690 and haven't noticed issues with the bristles harming my baseboards or furniture legs. I would assume the 877 has similar bristles. Damage is much more likely from direct strikes by the body of the machine.

Yes, you can stream from any Bluetooth device directly to the system. It also is Google Cast enabled if that fits your needs.
