Loud but powerful

I have been using this vacuum for several days now and wanted to share some of my observations. First, things first. It is loud. NOt like jet engine loud, but substantially louder than any other cordless vacuums I have used. It's a high pitched whine that drives my dog out of whatever room I happen to be using it in. It's somewhat annoying, but not enough for me to stop using it. Next, the weight of the motor is above your hand when using it some it's a bit awkward until you get used to it. The dust cup is slightly smaller than I would like. As for the UV head, I obviously can't "see" that it's working, but there is a certain peace of mind knowing it should be. The runtime is good and allows me to cover the entire downstairs of my home at least twice with no issues. If you want longer time, you'll have to spring for a second battery. I haven't had a need for one though. The stand is a wall-mount only so that's something to keep in mind and also this unit will absolutely not stand up on its own. The suction power is more than acceptable and I feel like it truly cleans my floors well. If it were quieter and had a different stand, I'd likely give it 5 stars.

Lightweight powerhouse

I have been using the Surface Laptop 4 for less than a week and have been blown away. I got this laptop to replace one that was definitely not aging well. The sleek and thin design is lightweight and portable. But the lightness belies the power this thing packs under the hood. With a 512 GB SSD, there's plenty of space for all my files and startup takes less than 20 seconds. The AMD Ryzen 7 sports 8 cores and plenty of speed for multitasking. I have had as many as 12 programs running at once and have seen no performance degradation.
The only port options are single USB-C (which also allows for charging), USB-A, Surface port, and a headphone jack. I'd like to see at least one more of each of the USB ports since I tend to connect several peripherals and why Microsoft won't go on to a Thunderbolt port is beyond me. I understand the lack of ports helps keep things thinner, but connectivity is a necessity. Luckily, I have a couple of hubs that help fill the void. Besides having only 8GB of RAM, that's really the only complaint I have about the Surface Laptop 4.
The backlit keyboard is comfortable, even on long typing sessions, and has a satisfying "click" to the keys with plenty of travel. The touchpad is responsive and impressively large. The keyboard deck is also sufficiently large to rest your palms without feeling like they are falling off the edge all the time. The screen is bright and crisp and the touchscreen is stylus friendly.
Also impressive is the built-in webcam, a feature I never would have even thought about a year or so ago. The high definition camera (although only a 720p) makes sure I look as good as possible in my numerous video calls. The sound quality is above average as well and the Dolby Atmos support helps it sound richer than any of my prior laptops. There's plenty of bass and crisp highs, which was definitely not something I was expecting.
I tend to get about 14 hours of battery life before having to plug in (which is less than the 17.5 hours advertised, but still plenty for my purposes). At less than 3.5 pounds, this unit is truly an "ultraportable." It runs cool and quiet, no matter how hard you are running it. Overall, I have been very impressed with this machine and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The Crock Pot Express 6-Quart Oval Max Pressure Cooker combines 9 appliances in 1 for space-saving versatility. Designed with an oval shape, it easily fits large pot roasts or a full rack of ribs without having to slice or stack. The larger cooking surface is perfect for serving the family and achieves more even sautéing and searing. Special features like the One-Hand Easy-Fit lid and No-Spin oval pot create an effortless kitchen experience. The Easy-Fit lid makes it easy to align the lid without having to twist and turn, while the No-Spin pot stays steady, eliminating spinning while stirring your favorite meals and other thick dishes. Additional features include the Quick Clean function for refreshing the cooking pot and gasket with the push of a button, and the Easy Release steam dial, which keeps your hand away from the steam when releasing pressure.

Great addition to my kitchen

I got the oval CrockPot Express to replace an older round unit I have used for quite some time and have loved. This cooker is even better! First, the oval design obviously eliminates the spinning pot problem I had before when stirring soups and pastas. It is rock solid and doesn't budge. As with my old unit, there are presets for various cooking chores that take the guess work completely out. The crock itself is big enough to hold a very large roast or make a vat of soup that will feed 8 or more. I really like the new lid design. No more aligning and twisting. Just set t down, turn the top handle, and its ready to go. The cleaning function works admirably well and is a welcome addition as the gasket on my old unit took on some odors of stronger spices even with regular cleaning. The elf-clean function has eliminated that issue as well. CrockPot advertises this as a 9 in 1 cooker, but I tend to use it mainly for pressure cooking (which is way more handy than I thought for quick meals of all kinds) and slow cooking (so I could get rid of my old slow cooker). I have cooked rice in it and it works well, but I don't usually need that much rice for my meals. I have yet to find anything negative to say about this cooker and have encouraged several friends to go get their own. It's just that handy.

Decent lights with potential
on March 30, 2021

I got these smart lights to replace a "dumb" set of color changing lights on my back patio. Setup was pretty straightforward and I had no problems getting them to sync with the app. Got them hung and started playing around a bit. The app is functional but could use some improvement. Mapping the lights is a trick and I had to take way more pictures that I would think was necessary for the app to figure out my setup. Once I finally got that done, playing with color sequences and designs was easy enough and I was able to save my designs with little problem. The down sides that I've noticed are that the lights tend to flicker some when set to solid white which is where we want to set them when we are eating or just want a decent ambient light. The voice commands with Alexa are very limited in that you can turn the string on and off, set a specific color, or adjust the brightness. There is no way to play a scene or change to one of the presets. Finally, although there is a button on the controller, it works only to turn the lights on and cycle through the preloaded scenes. You cannot use it to turn the lights off or adjust the brightness, meaning you have to pull out your phone or ask Alexa to turn them off which can be a bit of a pain. While they aren't as bright or user-friendly as I would have hoped, they are still decent lights and with some app tweaking hopefully they will continue to get better.

Absolutely phenomenal outdoor sonic experience
on March 10, 2021
Posted by: Chadwick
from Paducah, KY, USA
I had been looking for a permanent music solution for my new patio for some time when I came across the Sonance Outdoor Streaming System. Knowing how excellent Sonos equipment is, I jumped right on this system. Once unboxed, I set it up temporarily on my workbench in the garage to do the initial network connections and some basic testing (didn’t want to start drilling holes only to find out there was an issue after the fact).
After tracking down some speaker wire, which for some strange reason is not included in the box, I downloaded the new Sonos app (S2) as the original app is not compatible and began the amp setup. In the meantime, I wired each speaker to the amp. An interesting design note here—the wire feeds through a grommet in the rear of the speaker and the actual connections are made in the front and are covered by a dust cap.
At this point, the amp had finished connecting to my network and going through the obligatory update. I had absolutely no hiccups during the initial setup process and it was as simple as following the on-screen prompts. It took about 10 minutes start to finish. Now it was time to see what this thing could do, but the app is not super intuitive on how to actually start playing music. After digging around a bit, I figured out how to add my streaming music services of choice (there are a lot of choices here so your favorite or two should definitely be there) and authorize Sonos to access them. I went ahead and set up my Alexa account while I was at it so I could have voice control should that be necessary. I also found and tweaked the EQ (in settings select system, then look for your amp under products, then scroll down to sound to find the EQ) which obviously had to be tweaked again once I actually had music playing in the final location.
Back into the app to play some music. There is no intuitive way to play a specific song or station from a desired music service. At least not that I’ve been able to find. Since this is billed as a “streaming system” I would expect the app to be more streaming friendly. Fortunately, there are some easy work-arounds. First, there is a search function that will look for your selection across all of your enabled and linked accounts. Not ideal for me but its there. Second, and much simpler if you have an iOS device, is that the Sonos amp supports Airplay so you can go to your normal app and just cast directly to the system. That has been my go-to and it has worked well for me so far.
Once I got all of that figured out, I got to experience the awesome sound of this system. Although the bass won’t rattle the neighbor’s windows, the overall sound quality is phenomenal especially considering these are outdoor speakers. The highs are crisp and clean, the bass is punchy enough to know it’s there, and the mids stay right where they are supposed to. After fiddling around in awe listening to different genres I decided I had to get these things mounted.
I installed the included mounting brackets to the rear of my house near the eave and drilled holes through the wall into my attached garage making sure they were just slightly larger than the speaker wire my wife had gone to Best Buy to purchase while I was playing…I mean testing. I fished the wires through the holes from the inside, through the grommets in the speakers, and snapped the speakers in place. After making the connections (which again are in the front), I pulled the excess wire back into the garage and made the final connections to the amp inside. Although it should be obvious, it is worth noting the speakers are weather resistant but the amp certainly is not and should be installed in a protected space. Total install in the final location took less than 20 minutes for me but your mileage may vary. After some minor positioning and EQ tweaks, I was done and have been out on the patio listening to music at every possible moment since! Everyone who has come by has commented on how clean the install is and how great the sound pumping out of these speakers is. They are not small by any stretch but the color blends very well with my home’s trimwork so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb, much to my wife’s liking. You can paint the grills if you’d prefer them to be a different color and you can also remove the Sonance badge from the grills if you feel that necessary.
Overall, I cannot say enough about the Sonance Streaming System. Apart from my small beef with the app design as far as music playback, I have no complaints and no longer have to pull out multiple Bluetooth speakers and link them together to enjoy music all across my backyard and pool area. I just can’t wait to be able to have parties again to really let the neighbors hear what this thing can do!

Awesome for business

I am absolutely in love with the Pro EX9240. After opening the box I had it up and running in a matter of minutes. The picture quality and brightness far exceeded my expectations and are a massive improvement from our old unit. We use this projector for presentations and have started experimenting with it for group video conference meetings so all of us who are there can remain socially distanced. It is sitting on a purpose built shelf approximately 20 feet away from the screen and am able to dial in the picture so there is absolutely no blurriness. Our old projector struggled to have a clear picture from that distance and we routinely had to turn the lights off t be able to really see presentations. That is now a thing of the past! The addition of Miracast also alleviates the need to have cables strung out to connect a laptop or transferring files to a "shared" device that is dedicated for presentations. Setup there takes a couple of minutes at most (assuming you've already updated you computer drivers, of course) and there is very little noticeable lag when the computer and projector are connected to the same WiFi network. The menus are intuitive and offer an infinite number of setup options to suit the particulars of the room; keystone, zoom and focus have manual adjustment rings which is fine since they will rarely need to be changed once the projector is in position. The only thing I could possibly wish for would be a built-in Bluetooth solution as the sound quality from the internal speakers is pretty weak. Of course, Epson markets this projector for business uses rather than as a home theater projector but having the easy ability to wirelessly boost the sound would be very nice for video conferencing or playing back training/presentation videos. Otherwise, I cannot say enough good things about the Pro EX9240. If you are in need of a bright, clear, and easy to use business class projector, go get one. You won't regret it.

Lightweight and very portable
on January 29, 2021
Posted by: Chadwick
from Paducah, KY, USA
When I first opened the box and saw how small the Mini EF11 was, I thought I was missing something. Like a projector! But seriously, the unit is quite compact and lightweight. But don't let that fool you. It is actually a very capable machine. While not as bright as some of its larger cousins, the picture quality is very good and works well in darkened rooms or, as I have also used it, against the wall outside at night. Because of its size, this projector is easy to throw in a backpack for impromptu movie or sports nights anywhere you have power and a wifi connection. It's not completely portable by itself though because of the sound, which I'll get to shortly.
There is a single HDMI input, single USB-A input (which can power a streaming stick), and a 3.5 mm audio jack. You will need the audio jack for sure as the built-in sound is mono only, is lackluster at best, and this unit does not have Bluetooth capabilities. That's my biggest hangup with the whole system and means you have to think about lugging an external speaker and connecting cable around with you.
There is only one button, and it is for power. Everything else is controlled by the remote so if you lose that, you're pretty much done. The menus offer a wide array of adjustments and all quite intuitive. The automatic picture correction actually works quite well for fixing off-kilter views. It doesn't have auto focus as that can only be done manually. Not a big deal but something to be aware of.
Finally, I was a bit surprised to find no dust cap or cover for the lens, especially for something that's designed for portability. I would think lens protection is a no-brainer, but apparently Epson doesn't agree. So just be careful if you are packing the EF11 around and keep a dust cloth handy.

Decent but not fantastic
on January 12, 2021
Posted by: Chadwick

My wife and daughter both have thick and wavy hair. They were excited about the Conair straightening comb in hopes it would cut down on the time they need to get ready in the mornings. Although it works, it definitely will not be replacing their higher priced flat irons. According to them, unless the temperature dial is all the way up and Turbo Heat setting is on, it simply doesn't get hot enough to effectively straighten their hair. On the plus side, it does seem to glide relatively easy through the hair without pulling and does a decent job at touch ups or when "stick straight" isn't the look they are going for. Both of them liked the fact that the cord has the ability to spin where it enters the unit so cord tangling should be reduced. The unit is quite lightweight and has a sleek look. Another plus is the molded lip at the front of the handle which props the hot end up off your counter or dressing table.

Air scrubbing beast
on January 11, 2021
Posted by: Chadwick
from Paducah, KY, USA
First things first. The Classic Series 680i is a massive piece of equipment. I assumed because of the air cleaning capacity it would be big, but I was surprised at just how large it really was when I got it unboxed. Although the lines are clean and the design is minimalist, just don't expect the 680i to just blend in anywhere. That's really the only "negative" thing I can possibly say about it though.
The unit comes fully assembled, leaving you only to remove the plastic covering from the included filters and slide them back into place. It's ready to plug in and start scrubbing your air within a matter of minutes. There are easy rolling wheels on it which makes moving from place to place substantially easier, even on carpet. If you will be moving it from floor to floor (as I do occasionally), there aren't any handles so be prepared to hoist it up and carry it up or down the stairs.
I downloaded the Blueair app and was quickly connected to the unit. The app itself allows you to remotely control the unit anywhere you have an internet connection. It also allows you to monitor your air quality and get a feel for how hard the 680i is working to keep all the junk out.
Initially, I placed it in a large bonus room above the garage which gets lots of traffic (and odors!) from teenagers. I set it to the automatic mode and let it go for a couple of days. It was so quiet on the low fan speed I had to check it often to be sure it was actually running. There is a blue LED (dimmable) on the front panel, but I had to feel it to satisfy myself it was working. And boy did it. Within a couple of days, the room smelled better and had substantially less dust than normal.
Just for giggles, I pulled it out to the garage during a recent painting project to see how it would do. Although the paint fumes were still noticeable, I could tell from past experiences they dissipated much more quickly than normal.
As luck would have it, after I finished the paint project, I had left the garage door open while doing some other things. When I came back, the 680i was running at a much higher fan speed (and accompanying volume) than I had heard to that point. A neighbor was having a relatively large and smoky bonfire at the time which led to smoke coming into the garage. The unit sensed the issue and was working overtime to clear the air. I closed the door and within less than 10 minutes there was no trace of fire odor in the garage and the 680i was once again working at an imperceptible volume. Needless to say, I was impressed.
Since then, I have moved this unit between large areas of my home to scrub the air and have seen a visible decrease in the amount of airborne particles, resulting dust on furniture, and have been breathing a little bit easier (especially at night while sleeping). I simply can't say enough good things about the Blueair 680i. It really is an air scrubbing beast.

Lightweight cleaning powerhouse

Posted by: Chadwick

I have used many carpet cleaning machines over the years and the Bissell JetScrub is my absolute favorite. The first thing I noticed was the relatively light weight. I was skeptical as I thought it couldn't possibly do a good job with it being so light. I was completely wrong! The very first use it pulled up a stain from my living room rug where my aging dog had decided to do his business. After a couple of quick passes (on the speed clean setting) the stain was completely gone and the rug was dry within 20 minutes.
I moved upstairs to tackle a stain in my daughter's "hangout" room, this time using the deep clean function. This particular stain had been there for some time but had been covered with a piece of furniture and I had forgotten about it. When we recently renovated the room and moved the furniture, it was visible again. While not completely gone, the JetScrub made the stain far less noticeable.
A couple of days later, some friends dropped in to show off their new puppy. Of course, she decided my rug looked like a great place to relieve herself. I immediately pulled out the JetScrub and within a couple of minutes there was no sign of what she had done. y friends were so impressed, they borrowed my machine to try it out, then went and got their own!
The cord is plenty long enough to clean all but the largest of rooms without having to unplug. Cleanup after use is a breeze and the included storage tray makes sure you don't end up with wet spots where you don't want them when you are done using it. The cleaning head is not excessively wide which means you can get it into places others can't go. It is very maneuverable and much quieter than others I have used. I am so impressed with this machine I will be ordering the hard floor brush roller and nozzle so I can use it on my tile and hardwood and do away with my mop!

Does this clean hard floor surfaces as well?

It will if you purchase the optional hard surface roller and nozzle. Using the carpet roller won't work as the brushes won't come into enough contact with hard surfaces to clean properly. The set comes with two bottles of multi-surface cleaner and is relatively inexpensive.

Stream videos, view photos or play your favorite games by linking your preferred device to this projector via numerous versatile connections, including HDMI, VGA, USB, Micro SD and AV.

Does this product only work in the dark, or does it work in day time light too?

Only in the dark from my experience. Any ambient light overpowers the low light output of the projector unfortunately.

How does this system work without the monthly monitoring. Can I get alerts on my phone without the monitoring?

Essentially, without the monitoring you have little more than a noise-maker. You cannot get alerts on your phone or otherwise "self-monitor" the system. If no one is home when an alarm sounds, you will have no way of knowing it happened. If a bad guy comes in, your only hope is that the noise will scare him away.

Clean fur, dust and dander quickly with this Hoover REACT cordless pet vacuum. Integrated sensors automatically adjust the level of suction and the brush roll speed to handle different floor types. This Hoover REACT cordless pet vacuum uses a long-lasting lithium battery, so you can clean the whole room without a recharge.

Does vacuum only clean one room on a full charge?

I can easily clean 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, laundry room and large bonus room on a single charge, depending on soil level I can sometimes do this twice before recharging.

Keep floors dirt-free with this iRobot Roomba robot vacuum. Its AeroForce three-stage cleaning system agitates, extracts and suctions to eliminate stubborn dirt, and its iAdapt navigation feature uses multiple sensors for precise mapping and vacuuming. This iRobot Roomba robot vacuum includes a Virtual Wall Lighthouse beacon device for automated room-to-room cleaning.

I'm restating my former question in a more direct manner, concerning damage to BASEBOARDS and WOOD Furniture legs not wood floors, by the side bristles on the Roomba. Did the side bristles cause damage to these areas?

I've got the 690 and haven't noticed issues with the bristles harming my baseboards or furniture legs. I would assume the 877 has similar bristles. Damage is much more likely from direct strikes by the body of the machine.

Complete your cleaning routine with this Shark IONFLEX vacuum. Its 2x ION power pack system includes two LiIon batteries to provide backup power and longer run time, and it bends to reach floors under low-lying furniture thanks to its MultiFLEX technology. Convert this Shark IONFLEX vacuum into a handheld vac to clean ceilings and small corners.

How long does each battery charge last during use?

In real-world use, expect to get 8-10 minutes on max clean and about double that on standard. Since there are two batteries included, total run-time should be near 20 minutes on max and over 40 on standard which has been more than sufficient for my uses.

Are there wireless rear speakers that can be added ?

Nope, not as far as I can tell. Just the sound bar and wireless subwoofer.
