The word is compatible. It means you need the "Note 3" in order for this product to work. Soon the S3 and S4 will work with this too. Rumor has it the next Gear Watch will work with many phones.by

The GALAXY Gear only worked with the GALAXY Note 3 at launch. By Thanks Giving Day the GALAXY Note 2, S4, S3 and Mega will all work with the GALAXY Gear.Images for this Answer

You could wear it as a watch, after pairing it to your phone. However, you will not have any functionality aside from the clock, if you don't have your phone.The Gear is designed as a tool to run in conjunction with your Galaxy. Not a replacement for your phone.

All phone that use Bluetooth LE or Bluetooth 4.0 will work. As long as your S2 is updated past Gingerbread (If you've downloaded an update to your phone in the last year or 2 you're fine) your phone is supported.by
