Ok I don't have wifi in my home but I do have a modem and ethernet cord that provide the internet for my desktop computer how do I get internet/wifi to the chromebook? and what exactly is a wireless router? would I need one of those?
You can use a usb to ethernet adapter but the easiest way to get Internet on your chromebook would be a wireless router. A wireless router would connect directly to your modem, your computer would connect directly to the router, and your chromebook would connect wirelessly.
You can hook up directly with an ethernet cable that provides your desktop with internet connection. You would need a wireless router to be able to access the internet without the ethernet cable connected.
with a little searching ...I found a converter that you can attact to ethernet cord and plug into computers usb port.. as to how well it works depends on configuration of machine.. bet buy likely sells it mine came from radio shak
I use my Verizon Stratosphere in either WI-FI or tethered using the USB cable that came with the phone. It sees the tether as a direct Ethernet connection and works just fine. ALSO KEEPS THE PHONE CHARGED.
I just logged into dropbox and was able to upload a file from my Chromebook via its web access. This totally rocks! You can also upload files to Google Chrome Drive - you get 100 GB free for 2 years with the purchase of a Chromebook (it is a pretty small monthly fee to keep that up, or you can download your files to a Chromebook-compatible drive).
What sort of games does it work. Like for example does it work world of warcraft and what are the limits. I know you cant insert a disc but could you install it via pc
Not sure if this laptop would be strong enough as I am not smart in that area, but, you can always go to Blizzard's website and download the game client digitally which doesnt require the discs at all. So technically yes you can "install the game" but will there be lag? Who knows...I was actually wondering the same exact thng...Best of luck to you!! :)
this is a Chrome OS laptop and not a windows laptop, so games like WoW won't be compatible. The Chrome Store has some games on it, but nothing like WoW.
Sadly, no. This laptop runs on an OS that isn't supported by those games. Plus, the laptop isn't powerful enough to process those games. The Chromebook was meant for the little things. I'm sorrry..
The Chromebook cannot run any software or programs not built into the ChromeOS or that exist on an online app or website. You'd be surprised how many online games there are and how complex they can be, though...
I play trainstation on FB and use chrome on my laptop and I would like to know if this would be compatible with the chromebook? it is a pixel federation app.
Although I cannot guarantee 100% compatibility, if the TurboTax website uses Flash or HTML5, it should work with out a problem. If it uses any other web page codec, it may not work properly. I would suggest contacting the application's developer for more information on OS and Browser compatibility.
Although I wouldn't personally know about this app, I would have to ask you to contact the app's developer for more information on compatibility with the Chrome OS.
