What would be the best camera for taking pictures in a gym? My pics always turn out dark.

If you are using a compact camera there might be several issues going on at once. One might be the flash is going off and is not strong enough to reach your subjects. The Flash on a Compact camera only has an effective range of about 6-9 feet. Also Compact cameras have a small sensor, a little bigger than the size of the eraser head on a pencil. These sensors are not very light sensitive and cannot be set to a very high ISO...1600 if your lucky a little more if your really lucky. The higher the ISO the less light you need for a picture, but also the more Noise you get in the photo, especially on a Compact camera.
To get get more control over these settings and have faster shutter speeds to catch the action and have sharper images a D-SLR is the best choice. It has a MUCH bigger sensor, almost the size of a Quarter. The ISO can bet set on some cameras up to 3200 and even higher. Most models come with noise reduction built into the camera. The Flash is much stronger on a D-SLR and you can add an external Flash with a range of 35 feet or more. Plus there are interchangeable lenses for almost unlimited zoom options.

I'm looking for a new digital camera that has minimal shutter lag but I don't know which to buy

Shutter lag is most common and noticeable in compact cameras. Advanced cameras are a little better. If you really want to get away from Shutter Lag, getting a Digital-SLR is the best solution. With a D-SLR the Auto Mode is much faster than a Compact and in Manual Mode it is almost instantaneous when you press the shutter. Go to your nearest BestBuy and try a D-SLR Camera to see the difference.

Is there a touch screen camera?

Yes. Panasonic, HP, Nikon, Samsung and Sony, just to name a few, all have Touch Screen models. Sony seems to currently have the most Touch Screen cameras.

With HD camcorders, does your TV have to be HD to watch what you record?

Generally no..you don't have to have a HD TV. You can connect to a SD (Standard Definition) TV with a HD camcorder with the A/V (Audio Video) outputs and you should see the video in “Letter Box”. Using the A/V Cables you are basically Down Converting to SD.

Can we purchase a new USB to camera cord separetly?

My USB to camera cord isn't working. Can I find a new one at Best Buy. It's a Sony FinePix S700
The replacement cable should be available at the store, and if not, there should be a Universal USB cable with different tips to fit various connections.

What camera will let me take several pictures one after the other to catch my kids?

This type of shooting is referred to as “Burst Mode” where the camera takes several photos in a row. The icon for this mode looks like several squares laid overlapping each other. It will either be a button or found as a setting in the menu area. Almost ALL cameras have this feature now. Higher end Pro type cameras are best at burst mode and shot 6 or more Frames Per Second and will keep shooting as long as the shutter button is pressed. Compact, Advanced and Entry level Digital-SLR cameras will be at a much lower speed with 3 FPS being the best.

best digital camera for taking still pictures, especially in the dark and/or picking up small print?

Looking for professional digital camera that captures small print and for taking building/construction photos and automobile accidents photos.
A Digital-SLR would be best for you. One that is 14 megapixel or higher. This will allow you to pick up more detail and be able to crop with still retaining lots of data. You will need a faster, more light sensitive lens to shoot in dark areas.... f/2.8 or preferably f/1.8. Image stabilization either on the lens or body of the camera would be highly recommended. Canon, Nikon and Sony would all have a camera that will work for you situation.

wkat is k pixels

what is k pixels
k=1000
m=1,000,000,000 (mega)
g=1 billion (giga)
The word pixel stands for Picture Element, with the common abbreviation PIX for PICTURE plus EL from element. Pixels have a numerical value between 0 and 255, each pixel is made of three-color channels. The more pixels the more color information and sharper the image.
