Can we purchase a new USB to camera cord separetly?

My USB to camera cord isn't working. Can I find a new one at Best Buy. It's a Sony FinePix S700
The replacement cable should be available at the store, and if not, there should be a Universal USB cable with different tips to fit various connections.

What camera will let me take several pictures one after the other to catch my kids?

This type of shooting is referred to as “Burst Mode” where the camera takes several photos in a row. The icon for this mode looks like several squares laid overlapping each other. It will either be a button or found as a setting in the menu area. Almost ALL cameras have this feature now. Higher end Pro type cameras are best at burst mode and shot 6 or more Frames Per Second and will keep shooting as long as the shutter button is pressed. Compact, Advanced and Entry level Digital-SLR cameras will be at a much lower speed with 3 FPS being the best.

best digital camera for taking still pictures, especially in the dark and/or picking up small print?

Looking for professional digital camera that captures small print and for taking building/construction photos and automobile accidents photos.
A Digital-SLR would be best for you. One that is 14 megapixel or higher. This will allow you to pick up more detail and be able to crop with still retaining lots of data. You will need a faster, more light sensitive lens to shoot in dark areas.... f/2.8 or preferably f/1.8. Image stabilization either on the lens or body of the camera would be highly recommended. Canon, Nikon and Sony would all have a camera that will work for you situation.

wkat is k pixels

what is k pixels
k=1000
m=1,000,000,000 (mega)
g=1 billion (giga)
The word pixel stands for Picture Element, with the common abbreviation PIX for PICTURE plus EL from element. Pixels have a numerical value between 0 and 255, each pixel is made of three-color channels. The more pixels the more color information and sharper the image.

How long does the battery retain it's charge?

All batteries have a little internal resistance and will loose their charge over time. There is no exact length of time it takes for the battery to discharge. Factors such as quality and size of the battery, age, how many recharges the battery has had, even humidity conditions and temperature could also effect the hold time. On average a good battery should hold a charge out of the camera for up to a month or two, perhaps slightly more. In camera (not being used) that time might be greatly reduced to one or two weeks.

which cameras will let you take multiple exposures

This is commonly referred to as “Exposure Bracketing”. When this is enabled the camera takes 3 photos in a row. One under exposed, one middle or correctly exposed and one over exposed. This allows the photographer to choose which exposure they like best. Most cameras let you set the amount of steps the exposure is affected. From ¼ to 2 full steps above and below center metering.
Bracketing is also used in HDR Photo effects where the three (or more) different exposures are combined into one image.
Digital-SLR cameras and some more advanced compact cameras have this mode. Look for AEB (Automatic Exposure Bracketing) in the menu or functions area.

group or single

My daughter takes great pictures,she is thirteen and says she wants to go into professional photography. Iwant to buy her a really good camera for christmas . Price range would be around a thousand dollars or so. Can you help recomend a camera and tell me why this would be a good choice.
Thankyou
There are Many Digital-SLR cameras to choose from, each with unique benefits from each manufacturer. Be it more lens options, in camera stabilization, wireless flash control, live-view....option lists keep getting longer and longer. Popular opinion is that Canon, Nikon and Sony have the top slots. Where I can't suggest one manufacture over another I will suggest some things to keep in mind while choosing a camera:
1)Physical size of the camera. Canon Rebel, Nikon D40 and Sony a300 models are a good starting point as the bodies of the cameras are more likely to fit better in smaller hands. Professional range cameras a much bigger, bulkier and heavy for a reason. Take her to the nearest BestBuy and get the cameras in HER hands and find the one that feels good to Her.
2)Lenses...very important. The two most common lenses are the stock lens supplied with the camera and a Zoom Lens...usually up to 300mm. Image Stabilization is really a nice feature to have, and is nice to have in the Lens. Some camera bodies have built in stabilization.
3)A good Tri-pod. Stabilization on the camera or lens is great only to a certain point. A GOOD tri-pod is a must.
4)Extra Batteries and Memory Cards. You can NEVER have TOO MANY.
5)Have her take pictures of EVERY THING. That way she will find her favorite subjects and what she's best at shooting.

download video

from panasonic camcorder model SDR-H40 TO a mac
Thanks Pete
I have found information that the SDR-H40 might work with iMovie 8 and I have found comments that this camcorder doesn't work with Mac at all. Very confusing. You might need to convert the Video File for use with editing programs for Mac. One program suggested is Streamclip found here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/maco...

my camra wont let me take pictures but will let me view pics

the battery is not dead. i have tooken out the battery and memory card and nothin seems to be helping. i have even used can air in case something was blocking the lens. the lens will come out but then goes straight back in. i have only had my carmera two months. help
If you have had it only 2 months you should check the warranty to see how long the coverage is for...you might still be in. If you are, contact the manufacturer of the camera about what you should do. They would have the best answer for you.
