Nikon Creative Lighting System

Is the SU-800 commander required to use the SB-600 as a wireless unit off camera or can the SB-600 be used as a wireless stand alone unit as implied in the manual on page 199?
Some of the Nikon cameras such as the D80, D200, D70, D70s, F6, D2X, D2H, and D2Hs have built in wireless control and will work with the SB-600 directly when the menu settings are correctly set and the on camera flash is up. This is the antenna for triggering the off camera flash.
Not all camera models have the built in wireless controller. Models that do not have the built in controller will need the SU-800 commander/transmitter or SB-800 which is a Speed Flash and commander/transmitter.
The owners manual of your camera should show if your camera has built in wireless control.

what's wrong with my tv,it shows a red light that says lamp?

i have a mitzsibitshi big sceen tv. it was working good one minute then it started to where it would not come on. everytime i cut it on it will cut right back off no picture will show no sound either, but a red light will appear that says LAMP and my tv does not come on anymore. can you tell me what's wrong with my tv, can it be fixed,,how much will it cost ,can i fix it myseif ? someone told me it may need abulb if it is the bulb, can i buy one in a store here or do i have to order it and have it shipped,.how much do a bulb cost? thank you.
The Lamp indicator does usually imply that the backlight lamp has gone out and that "bulb" needs replaced. Without knowing the model and year of Manufacture Date it had to say anything more.
You could contact Mitsubishi for advice.

OUT DOOR TV

I have a screened in porch and it is pre wired for an outdoor TV. What type and brand of TV can be wall mounted outside in an area where it will not be rained on but exposed to all other elements.

Let me know,
SunBrite TVs are designed with this in mind.
They have various sizes available.

Time lapse video...

I want to do a time lapse recording of a construction project that I will be doing this weekend... what would be a good camera to do this with?
If you are looking to speed up the video to look like time lapse any camcorder will work. It is not a feature built into the camcorder rather a editing issue.
Once the footage is captured on a computer and put on the Time Line of the editing software you can either speed up or time compress the play back to get the Time Lapse look.
There is several tutorials on this type of editing online..google search for "time lapse video editing" to find some.

Shock proof , water proof digital camera ?

The Olympus SW series of cameras are Shock and Weather resistant cameras. Pentax and Samsung also have a few Weather resistant cameras now. Usually a "SW" or "WS" in the model number indicates a Weather and Shock resistance...but not always. Read the specs to be sure.

What does i-TTL mean

The manual for the Nikon d5000 refers to i-TTL balanced fill flash for digital SLR's. What does i-TTL translate to ie total time lapse?
First off... TTl stands for Through-The-Lens (TTL) metering. The camera has a built in light metering system for setting the cameras f-stop and shutter speed,. ect. TTL is part of that system.
TTL can also apply to flash allowing the camera to adjust the intensity and in some cases the tightness of the flash (zoom flash).
Common types of TTL are:
TTL
D-TTL, i-TTL for Nikon
E-TTL and E-TTL II for Canon
P-TTL for Pentax

what camcorders have HDMI output

That would be a pretty long list. Any camcorder that is HD would most likely have HDMI in either a full size or mini output port. If the video is shot in High Definition and there is no HDMI port for viewing there would be no need to shoot in HD because it couldn't' be viewed except on the camera screen.
A Standard Definition camcorder would not have a HDMI port. All HD camcorders should.

aftermarket telephoto lenses for a Nikon d40

Are the aftermarket lenses as good as the genuine Nikkor in the 55-200mm focal length???
I have shot with Tamron and Sigma lenses and have found them to be equal to if not better than the OEM stock lens usually sold with the camera.

Pretty much. As long as the HDMI type is correct. There is HDMI 1.3a, 1.3b and 1.4.
