Mostly Yes...with a little difference.
The size of the sensor in this camera is a APS-C and is smaller than a 35mm piece of film. This affects the zoom length of the lens. The multiply factor for a APS-C sensor is 1.6. So any film lenses used gets multiplied by 1.6...so if you have a 18-70mm film lens it would be a 28-112mm on a digital body.

There are some "ifs".
If.. the camcorder records a AVCHD file for it's HD video ...in most cases you can copy that file to your computer and burn it to a DvD as a file and BLU-Ray players are to be able to play it directly.
That is "if" you have a DvD burner and "if" you have a Blu-Ray to play back on.
You might need a SDHC card reader to get the file from the Memory card or connect the camcorder to the computer to get the video file.

Local TV station might have a streaming signal to the internet, if so, yes you could watch TV on you computer.

Region codes for Blu-Ray disks are different from DvD codes.
DvD codes are numeric.
Blue-Ray codes are simply A,B and C. Currently:
A includes mostly North, Central and South American and Southeast Asian countries plus Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
B includes most of Europe, African and southwest Asian countries plus Australia and New Zealand.
C contains the remaining central and south Asian countries plus China and Russia.
