nikkor 50mm f/1.8 or nikkor 35mm f/1.8

i'm planning to get my first prime lens. which lens should i get? i have nikon d3000.
Both are really nice fast lenses so you will get some nice DOF (Depth of Field).
The 50mm is a nice lens and you'll get good shots with almost no curvature to the images.
The 35mm might give you a slight curve on the outer edges and a wider angle...maybe some exaggerated proportion...this makes for some really cool shots if that is what you are looking for.
For more creative shots...I'd go with the 35mm. For more traditional and portrait work...the 50mm is the better choice.

P.S.
I keep a 50mm f/1.7 on my Sony a700 as a general all usage lens ALL the time. I only take it off for other lenses for specific shots.

If a camcorder has an 80GB hard drive and the HD becomes full, do you have to download the HD before inserting a memory card?

We are trying to decide which camcorder we want to purchase.
The memory card is a separate media. When using the camcorder you should be able to select which media you want to record to. This is either done through the camera select switch or in the menu settings.
It would be advisable to clear the hard drive as soon as possible.

What is the best beginner DSLR for photographing kids and pets in action?

Canon, Nikon and Sony all make great entry level Digital-SLR cameras.
Easy to use, small (for SLRs) and light weight.
Canon will have more lenses to choose from and Sony has image stabilization (Steady Shot) and wireless control of off camera speed/zoom flash built in.
Here are some to look at: Canon XS, Nikon D3000 and Sony a230

Products from my answer
Canon - EOS Digital Rebel XS 10.1-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black

Nikon - 10.2-Megapixel D3000 Digital SLR Camera - Black

Sony - Alpha 10.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black

PAL vs NTSC mini dv systems

I have some PAL mini dv cassettes. I want to capture them into my laptop but the problem that I have NTSC mini dv camcoder, it doesn't support. So how can it manage ? Change the NTSC camcorder into PAL system, then capture it and finally is it possible that comeback into NTSC camcorder?
Unfortunately video tapes recorded on PAL camcorders have to be played back on a PAL system. The tape speed, frame rate and resolution size are all different. As far as I know the is no camcorder that is both PAL and NTSC that is miniDV based.
Check in you area if there is a Video Duplication House. They might be able to convert the video from PAL to NTSC. Your local TV Station might have some suggestions too.

time and date stamp

I want to send photos electronically with a time and date stamp on them. I do not want to print the photos. Is there a digitlal point-n-shoot-12 mgpixel-with time and date stamp under $100 that allows me to do this?
Most digital cameras embed the date and time info into the file info of the photo. SO it is not so much a camera thing as a software thing.
There is software available to leave that information viewable when exporting the image.
Search the web for "add time stamp on digital photos" and you'll get some helpful results.

Will sigma lenses that fit an older Pentax zx-60 also fit a K10D?

The older lens probably used the "K" or sometimes called the "PK" mounting system developed by Pentax around 1975. The K10D uses the KAF2 mount system.
Because of the contact points on the body it is not very compatible with older "K" type lenses.

if a micro sd card is inserted into a DSLR will the camera operate slower??

There shouldn't be a speed reduction unless the micro sd is not rated type 6 or higher.

How can I use "fill flash?'

I have a DSLR, Nikon D-60 and often take pictures of people outdoors. In order to reduce/remove facial shadows, I like to use "fill flash" but frequently have a problem raising the flash.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'd be happy to help with this question...but I have a few questions.
Are you only using the flash that is built into he camera? Do yo have a external camera flash?
Sometimes in an outdoor setting the metering in the camera does not detect a low light enough condition to trigger the flash mode. One way to help this is to spot meter on the darker area in the scene.
Using a external flash attached to the camera will work better and is much stronger to overcome excessive shadows. Also try setting your camera to the "P" mode when using a external flash.

Looking for a small digital camera with 10X zoom, and a view finder in addtion to the LCD screen.

Of course the first answer would be a Digital-SLR. That being said...many of the Advanced Compact cameras have view finders in addition to a LCD screen, however it is still a LCD screen..just smaller. It is not like a Digital-SLR where you are looking directly through the lens.
Some compacts have a view finder that is slightly offset to the side of the lens giving you a slightly different view than what the final image will be.

need digitlal point-n-shoot-12 mgpixel-time and date stamp under $100

looking for a s imple digital camera at least 10-12 megapixels, time and date stamp and less than $100
There are quite a few cameras that will work in that prices range...too many to list here.
Some good ones to look at would be..Kodak, Casio and Polaroid.
The date and time are encoded in every photo and during printing you can choose to display.
