what digital camera would be good for taking shots of my daughter in gymnastics?

An advanced compact or D-SLR would be best.
A camera that allows you to adjust settings manually...such as ISO (Sensitivity)..Shutter and Aperture.
A standard compact will be too slow to capture the faster action in gymnastics.
Stop by your nearest BestBuy and take a look at the Advanced and D-SLR cameras on display.

Want to buy a camcorder

I am looking for a camcorder that will be able to take day & night shots, as well as indoor & outdoor.
I need something that I can video for awhile and not have to charge the battery. I have a old lap top will I have a problem with editing?

What time of camcorder would I need?
Sony camcorders have some of the better Night Shot modes. The memory based camcorders use less voltage and have a long run time between charges.
There might be an issue depending on how old your computer is. Chip speed for smooth playback might be an issue.

I have a old Olympus OM-10 camera with several lenses, will those lenses fit/work with the new Cannon EOS Digital Rebel T1i camera?

If they are auto focus, they might work with a conversion ring or adapter.
These can be found by Googeling " Olympus lens on Canon".

what is the best camera for concert pics

I'm looking for a camera for my daughter. She likes to takes lots of pics at concerts and the camera she has now wont take the pics. They are always blury. Any suggestions???
The blury pictures are most likely caused by the shutter staying open too long. Concerts usually have low light with lots of lighting on stage. This can confuse a camera when set in auto mode.
What would be best for her is a camera that she has control over the settings in manual mode.
A D-SLR would give her that control plus more light sensitivity due to the larger sensor and ability to set the ISO to higher numbers.
There are several entry level D-SLR that are priced comparable to a higher end compact camera.
Stop by your nearest BestBuy and let an associate demonstrate some of the D-SLR cameras for you. They will help you find the right camera for her.

pictures lost in my memory card

I was trying to upload my pictures the other day and it said that I have 615 photos in my camera, but when you cut on my camera and look through the pictures I only have 5 pictures in my camera. My question is where are the other 610 photos? there are some on there that need to be deleted and I just wanted to know where do I suppose to go and find the pictures and edit and delete them or do I have to bring my camera in to you all and get you to delete them? Help me please
What brand and model of camera is it and does it have or use a memory card/stick??
You shouldn't need to bring the camera in unless it is broken.

What does "f/2.8" mean?

First, what does "f" mean? Second, what's the difference between a "f/4" and a "f/2.8"? It looks like f/2.8 lenses are higher priced, so does that mean they're better?
First off...f refers to f stop..or feet stop. An early way of measuring the strength of light was by counting how many feet away from a candle the light was still seen. Sometimes known as "Foot Candles".
In reference to a lens it is how much light is let in to expose the film/sensor of a camera. The number refers to the size of the opening, the larger the number the smaller the hole....smaller the number the larger the hole and sometimes the lens. (see illustration)
Lenses with a good f/ stop..say f/1.4 to f/2.8 are more desirable, and more expensive, because they are what are called a "Fast Lens", allowing you to use a faster shutter speed. This give you more control over depth of field (DOF) and the ability to freeze action shots better such as sports photography.

Sensor Size/Quality

I'm looking at two cameras. One has a 6 MB sensor, but the sensor is big (24 x 36 mm). The other has a 10.1 M sensor, but it's small (15 x 15 mm). I've also noticed that on many cameras with bigger zoom ranges, the sensor is smaller than in an equivalent camera with a smaller zoom range. So are all pixels equal? Or do some carry more/better information than others?
The 24x36 camera uses a full size sensor. That is a sensor that is the same size as a 35mm camera. This will give you a clearer image than the 15x15 sensor. Less color bleed. More surface area helps with that.
Even though the 15x15 is a 10mp sensor the larger sensor will give you a better looking enlargement.

What does Digital SLR mean?

Digital-SLR refers to a digital version of a 35mm Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera.
Single Lens being only one lens used so the viewfinder shows what the lens sees. Reflex refers to the prism or mirror that is used to reflect the image to the viewfinder. The mirror then flips out of the way allowing the image to expose the sensor when the shutter button is pushed.

what is the best zoom lens

nikon d80 camera
A generally all around good zoom lens is the 70-300mm.
Tamron recently released a 18-270mm all purpose lens.

Does "burst shooting" allow me to take a photo immediately (no lag) and do any "point and shoot" Olympus cameras have this feature?

Burst mode is for taking a series of photos in a row. Once the cameras has set itself for lighting conditions and exposure there should be no lag time while in burst mode unless conditions change drastically. Burst is more common on D-SLR cameras and rare on compacts.
The E-P1 has burst mode as do the Olympus D-SLR models.
