Hose is plenty long enough and vacuum is light enough to carry up and down stairs.

Less than 5 feet, and on stairs, because it comes out of the top of the vacuum, you pull the whole contraption over when you try to do something like stairs.

I can pull the hose only out to 10" 6" on my unit DC 65, and the wand extends it another 30 inches, but you may not be able to use the wand on stairs it is hard to handle. If you just use the brush tool at the end of the hose, you could get another couple of inches.

It is long enough to reach a few stairs but you will have to lift the vacuum up the stairs to finish.

According the manufacturer, the vacuum's maximum reach is 51.7 feet with a 35 foot long cord.

Motorized brush

I realize the PET MODELS have the motorized brush but we do not have pets and was wondering if it would clean as well. From the one answer I rec'd previously, it sounds like he was not sure but that I should vacuum more often. I can do that with a much less expensive vacuum.

Do not waste your time and your money with other vacs. I had my original dyson over 12 years, when it finally died we tried the shark rotator pro. That thing was the biggest piece of junk ever. Had the suction of an old man with copd trying to suck up dirt through a straw. You COULD but cheaper vacs, but you will never buy anything better. Spend a little extra and get a 10 to 15 year vacccuum, or you could buy a new cheap one every 3 to 5 years and end up spending 2 times the money.

It cleans just as well and you can buy the brush separately. Aside from the brush, it's the same vacuum.

I bought this one, I don't have pet; but it cleans great hardwood floor and carpet. Time to time I vacuum the bathroom with some hair on the floor this vac works perfect.

You do not need the pet tool especially if you don't have pets. I have a dog that sheds and my old vacuum came with the pet tool which I never used once. Even with a pet I feel its a waste of money. Like I said I have a pet and I just bought my second Dyson and I didn't buy the pet model it works awesome. I had my first Dyson for 10 years and it still works great but we used it for a remodel and I felt like I needed a new one. The pet model is just an attachment that you use to suck up extra pet hair on your couch etc and like I said I have never used mine. You will be fine with a regular model. Save your money

I had the pet model before and was concerned about the same thing. I think this one works just as good. I think it cleans well and am happy I saved the extra bucks since I don't have pets.

I do not have pets and it cleans very thoroughly. You can feel the difference in the carpet after vacuuming.

The motorized brush is in the attachment tool not the vacuum. So the vacuum will clean the same.

This vacuum is identical to the pet model. The only difference is the brush attachment which you can purchase separately for this vacuum if needed.

Yes this vacuum has the same specs as the other DC65 models. The only difference is the number of accessories and attachments that it comes with which make them more expensive. All the DC65 vacuums are the same and I think they just use the colors to distinguish between their different SKUs.

I have a husky so I have tried pretty much every type of pet vacuum out there and the dyson takes the cake. It even does a better job than my brother's kirby. It is definitely worth the price.

Yes, the motorized brush is in the attachment tool for couches not the vacuum cleaner. So yes this vacuum will clean the same for carpets.

This model cleaned everything very well. It cleaned my persian carpet, house carpet, and hardwood floor. It did it almost effortlessly, which makes vacuuming fun!

Absolutely, I don't see WHY not. if you can use it on hardwood floor; bamboo floor similar to hardwood floor hence you should not have any issues.

I would not recommend, I would worry about possibly scratching your floors, the vacuum is light weight, but I would not use on my wood floors.

This is a multi-floor vacuum with soft bristled beater bar. I have several different floors that I use my Dyson with no damage. If you're unsure use in a area that's inconspicuous.
