HP HDX Premium Series Laptop, 250GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive - 7;200 RPM; 2.5in form factor; 9.5mm thick will not fit in the Dynex enclosure. The device carton states it will support up to 9.5mm drives. Does anyone have a work around?by

Just load the drive into the case and plug it into your USB port on your computer. Your computer will recognize it as another drive.by

regarding Dynex™ - 2.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosuredrive disconnects when attached to usb 3.0 interface and copying large files (>2GB). Works fine on USB 2.0 interface. Same with multiple drives and multiple computers. How can this be resolved

After doing some research, it appears to be a power saving option for the USB 3.0 slots. You need to go into the control panel and choose the power options. You should be looking to change power options, specifically the USB selective suspend settings. you want to disable the plugged in option. That should keep the drive on all the time.by

When I plug into the USB port to get info off a Dell laptop HD, it will run (I hear it and the blue light flickers), I see it look enough to start a virus scan with MacKeeper but, after a few thousand files are scanned and it looks like it is progressing, it stops, disappears and I get a message that the disk was "...not ejected properly" and "to select it in "Finder" and eject it. Also, that Mac OS wil attempt to repair any damage to the info on the disk. I can not see it anywhere to eject properly. Can you help me retrieve the old data and then formate it for an external HD?by

PJChipper, I had some issue initially getting my iMac to recognize the drive from my PC laptop, but this was taken care of with a simple reboot of the iMac while the Dynex unit was still on and plugged in. On reboot, the iMac recognized the drive and presented it in Finder.by

Just use the included Philips screwdriver. You have to get the drive out of your laptop anyway in order to insert it into the enclosure. Unscrew the screws, attach the drive, the put the case back together, ta da....drive protected....and ready to plug in USB to a computer and read the drive!by

I bought mine in store. It works fine on a USB 2.0 port on my computer. I haven't tried with my router, but should be ok, the routers should read it the same as if a computer were reading it.Are you sure your drive is SATA? My old HP has a PATA drive, in which case this would not work.
Either way, just bring your drive in to the store and have an employee pull this enclosure out of the box and try it with your drive.
