A digital optical cable would be a separate purchase, but the cables are not very expensive.
You can connect using an analog input (3.5mm), which is good for older televisions that use an RCA audio output port.
Digital optical is the easiest, and single cable solution to connecting your audio bar to your television, and will take the audio that come into the TV and send it out to your audio bar.
HDMI can get tricky in this situation, so unless you're familiar with ARC (or Audio Return Channel) with HDMI, or you know how to send audio from your TV using the available ARC option on your TV, the digital optical audio option may give you the least amount of set-up issues. In case you do want to try ARC, this audio bar supports it - but your television must also support ARC in order for audio to transfer from the TV to your audio device.
