Any media (protected or otherwise) would need to be copied to the MyCloud by going to its network share directly. When you first plug it into your network it is accessible by name via web browser. You can then login using the default credentials, create shares, etc, and assign users. You can also configure whether or not the device acts as a media servier for iTunes or DLNA. Each share can then be enabled for indexing of media which is presented to connected devices.
You'll need to connect the MyCloud to a wired network port. This is usually just a port on your wireless enabled router. Once you do that, copy media over, and configure things the way you want them, you just need to browse the server using whatever wireless/wired clients you want to use (such as XBOX ONE, PS4, DLNA capable TVs, etc).
One software you might consider looking into is PLEX media server. I'm not sure if it can mount/ connect to collections on remote file servers, but it is a good place to start looking at aggregating all of your media on one platform.
