Atlink, another Internet provider, is different where you have to use their modem and they install it, in which case you would only need the router. Also, if you need a router and modem you can buy a combination which has both the modem and router built into one. I thought it was cheaper to buy one item that had both built in, but I had to switch Internet providers when I moved that had to use their modem and then had to buy a separate router because the combination would not work without cable provided Internet, so I would keep that in mind.

Currently I have two different wifi with two different names and passwords which they work at same time in my APT. I used the one which came from the internet provider and I bought another WIFI router devices with long cable so it work via the main router which is the internet source and connect it with the new device and worked with no problems. Yes, You can install a second router in the home. You could get a range booster for the current router. You could also get a Better router like a NETGEAR - N750 Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch which would give you better signal for the whole house and mostly increase your thought-put over all. Do to the face the wireless/modems from service providers are no the best for wireless speeds. (Fun fact. Charter offers a wireless router but does not support the wifi only hardwire and does not guarantee any connection speed with it.)

Wireless Extenders are very convenient but it's unreliable IMO due to relying on a weak signal. To get the most reliable connection, you can get a 2nd router and configure it as AP like the first answer or the easiest is to buy a dedicated WAP such as Ubiquity UniFi AP Pro.
